Murray, Aberdeen Thanks for the advice much appreciated. I have booked a balcony cabin on Tosca Deck. Have you had a balcony cabin? Are they nice? Is there a drinks package on board? What is the compulsory tipping amount? Thank U.

Hi there We have done this itinerary twice. The first time we did organised excursions, the second time we did our own thing. I would definitely recommend the "Mystical Muscat" for Muscat. We went to the grand mosque which was absolutely excellent, aided by an excellent local guide. In Bahrain we did a tour that takes in a mosque, Koran museum and lunch on the causeway. We didnt really enjoy Bahrain. In Abu Dhabi we did the "Sheiks Shopping" but to be honest at £50 pp it is a complete rip off. You go to a heritage centre then to the Marina Mall for shopping. A rip off because the shuttle bus takes you to the Marina Mall for nothing, so I would give that one a miss. We didn't do anything in Fujairah, and didn't hear good reports about the organised excursion. In Dubai we did our own thing. One great way of seeing Dubai is "The Big Bus" which will cost around £25 per peson and your ticket is valid for 24 hours and you can hop on and off when you like. The shuttle bus drops you off at the Burjaman shopping centre and you can buy your ticket there. Alternatively take a taxi, they are very cheap (and metered) in Dubai. A word of warning re other ports though, if you do take taxis be very very careful they don't rip you off. We heard so many stories of people getting ripped off. Hope you have a fab time and any other questions please feel free to ask.

We did this cruise last year and would agree with what has already been written.....we did the East coast Fujairah tour and were pleased with it as we saw some of the countryside and coastline as well as visiting a fruit, vegetable and fish market, a museum which was very interesting and I felt we got some feeling of what it was like to live there. it cost around £30 and we felt it was good value for money...although some people did moan that it was boring!!! can't please everyone I suppose! We did however get conned by a taxi driver in Muscat to our great cost, after agreeing a price beforehand etc. etc. So it is advisable to take excursions if you want to go any distance. We had a balcony and it was fabulous as the weather was superb the whole week so it was well used!! I think the compulsory tips are 6 euros per day per person at the moment. We loved this itinerary so hope you do too.
