My wife and I certaily thought it was worth it, we cruised with Thomson on the Celebration 2 years ago. you do see some reindeer, we stopped at a small Saami(hope I've spelt it right) holding, obviously something of a tourist attraction, but very interesting.I just hope you have better weather than we had. Hoever, the scenery was great, as was the visitors centre.
The excursion to the North Cape is a well worth while experience. Having gone so far north it would be a shame to miss the ultimate thrill of actually standing at the north Cape. You see reindeer and also stop along the way. There is a very good visitor centre and restaurant. The scenery is a unique experience. I have done the trip twice, on both occasons from the QE2.
My husband and myself visited the North Cape two years ago on Artemis and it was an experience not to be missed! The scenery on the way up is magnificent and yes you do see reindeer. We visited the sammi settlement on the way which was very interesting and they have a little gift shop there,it is a little bit expensive but good are handmade and exclusive. The cape is a wonderful experience not to be missed we would love to go again .we were unlucky regards the weather as it was very misty and wet when we went but took nothing away from the pleasure.Just go as if you don't you will always regret it.
We did this excursion last year and thought it was brilliant. We bought some items from the Sammi settlement and enjoyed the visitors centre very much. Some people from our ship (QE2) did the trip on public transport and had no problems and saved a lot of money but we preferred the safe route.
