I was on the maiden Transatlantic Q.Vic this January (Britania Grade) and about to return for another trip on her on 22nd April.. I found no big problems with the ship or her crew other than perhaps as Mr/MS Long says some crew members unfamiliar with the lay out of the ship.. Cunard prides it's self in it's white star service almost all of it's front line staff have come from either 5 star hotels or 5/6 star ships.. my cabin steward had previously worked on the 'World ' both of my table waiters had come from Seabourn.. Take no notice of what the americans have to say .. It's time we suported the britishness that we find in Cunard.. after all Cunard/white star is almost as old as them ! ( yes any new ship will always have it's teething problems in the first few months.
I went on QV's maiden voyage to the Christmas Markets of Northern Europe.Unsurprisingly, it sometimes felt that the staff hadn;t quite got their act together but this was down to lack of familiarity with the ship rather than lack of training.
I was perfectly happy with the quality of the food and found the service in the dining room to be excellent. Yes, there was the odd teething problem such as blocked toilets on a couple of occasions but this was soon rectified and caused only very minor inconvenience.
As far as the entertainment is concerned, the showteam is first-rate and the production shows were very good, particularly "Victoriana". My personal preference (but one that is shared by many others, I suspect) is for more production shows and less cabaret-style shows. Having said that, on the maiden voyage, cabaret acts included artists of the calibre of Aled Jones and the Opera Babes.
I am always wary of reading reviews having done so in the past and having been concerned about negative opinions of cruises on which I have been booked only to find that my concerns were proved groundless.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed my cruise experience on Queen Victoria and cannot wait to sail on her again.
