We are sailing in july - we took up the free parking offer which was available up until december via RCI. We have booked the Norton Park hotel in Winchester (20 mins away) from Southampton, a D,B& B of £90..and hotel has really good reviews on Tripadvisor. Many hotles in Southampton had lousy reviews-even the De Vere. Check out tripadvisor.co.uk for the reviews.
I have booked a night at JurysInn, £69- basic but ok and only 10 mins away from the terminal if you dont mind a teavelodge type hotel. But ask the Downs on this site, they live in Southampton and have more info than most on this...I am sure they will give you some advic.
Your Best bet it to go with someone like Premier Inn they have a Hotel in Southampton City Centre which is about 1/2 mile from the docks, if you vistin their web site you can check avaliablity and book online.
Here is an answer that I gave 2 or 3 weeks ago and I trust that the information is still accurate: At the end of the M3 motorway is the Hilton Hotel at Chilworth. There you can get a room, dinner, bed and breakfast, car parking for up to 14 days and transport to and from the dock for £150 to £170. (I am reliably told that a little negotiating with the receptionist could get the price, on certain occasions, a little lower. There are other hotels in Southampton but I am unsure as to their stay and park operations maybe you can look them up on the net. Again this is part of another previous answer and I hope it helps: If you have expensive tastes the De Vere Grand Harbour is a 5 star hotel close to both docks and a little way up the road and closer to the P&O, Princess and RCI berths is the Ibis and the Novotel which are reasonable in price and Jurys Inn a little further away. On the less expensive side but slightly further from the docks there are Premier Travel Inns and Holiday Inns. There are several B&Bs near the docks but you have to remember living as we do here we do not stay in the hotels , only visit them for social occasions....Nei.
The DeVere Grand Harbour offer Pre and post cruise package rates available with facilities to leave your car for £5.00 per day charge.
OR Holiday Inn at Southampton Airport offers "Park, Stay & Go package, which includes one night’s accommodation (room only), and up to 15 nights’ parking at our conveniently located airport and train station hotels" Downside is you are out by the airport.
We stayed at the novhotel mins away from the docks its was great no worries on the traffic and the parking at the docks was simple and easy i would do it agai.
Just booked today with Gill's cruise centre - 10 days on Independence of the Seas on the 27th May, free coach travel included - only problem we live on the east coat, Bridlington, and have been told coach goes from Leeds coach station. Can't believe this, is there no pick up point at say Hull or Beverley? Any suggestions.
