Find Your Cruise
Goodwin, Teinmouth gave a reasonable account of the MSC Orchestra in my view, except that there was a hair dryer in the room and we certainly were allowed to take drinks on board. We took a couple of bottles of whisky in for instance at the start of the cruise and then a few beers and a couple of bottles of bacardi. If you take what they consider to be 'large quantities' they will store it for you until you disembark, but the odd bottle of two was certainly OK for us (and for two Scottish ladies on our dining table who brought drinks in from every port. There is not enough effort made by MSC to accommodate the British guest, there was 95 of us on our cruise out of 3,000 guests, the majority were Italians, I used to like Italians, not any more - the majority are an ignorant bunch and a word of warning, when the buffet is put out - stand clear. John. Lancashire .
There will a hairdryer provided and air conditioning which can be controlled by a switch on the wall, there are no facilities for tea making and personal electrical applicances are not allowed, however I have cruised with MSC on the Opera and the Armonia and on both ships tea and coffee is available free of charge from room service, you have pay only if you order food, MSC do not advertise this service as I think it is only the British that want tea in the cabins, the majority of the passengers on the MSC ships are Italian and it is not something they require. Tea and coffee are served with meals, (at dinner you have to request it) but apart from these times it not readily available, also no water is served with meals only bottled water which has to be paid for, therefore room service for tea is a bonus! no doubt in time MSC will wake up to this and charge but at the present time unless you order food with your beverage the service is free.
Yes there is air conditioning but no tea making facilities.
We travelled on one of their sister ships in april. air conditioning yes. hairdryer yes.no tea making facilities in fact you had to pay for tea/coffee and even water everywhere on the ship an d it wasn't easy to come by.although they say no outside electrics in the cabin.i always take my own teabags anyway
but we purchased a kettle on our first port of call and just hid it away when the cabin stewart came in. when you wake first thing you cant beat a nice cup of tea.after all this check before you go.but be warned.regards have a lovely holiday.
Definitely air conditioning! No tea/coffee making facilities but I would point out that you can get either free from room service at any time (well it was free last time I travelled with MSC!). I haven't travelled on Rhapsody so would advise you to ask MSC about the hairdrier. Generally cruise lines do not permit electrical goods because they consider them to be a fire hazard.
You will certainly have air conditioning and almost certainly a hair dryer. But you will not have tea and coffee facilities in the cabin.
Hi there '
Yes there is air conditioning on board, but as I remember there was no hair dryer in the cabin, but there are 220 volt sockets which were suitable for UK hair dryers with a standard EU adaptor.
This is a nice small older ship but on our last voyage ( this year ) the service had deteriorated since our previous long distance trip in 2006.
Ok, we have just (last week0 come back off the MSC Orchestra.First of all we do not want to put a dampener on your trip. But, be prepared to pay for everything. There is air con, but all of us are now suffering with colds, just a hazard I guess. There is no hairdryer in the cabin nor are there any tea making facities. Our advice is this, take a little kettle, te,coffee, a travel iron and if you want a tipple in your cabin take the booze with you.Once your on board you will not be able to bring any spirits back on board when you visit port. The drinks on board are expensive but we put it down to the bad euro exchange rate. The MSCships, if ours is anything to go by are ultra clean. The restaurant staff are very polite and friendly but the overall holiday to us was a big disappointment. We will never use MSC again but we had to find out what they were like. Not sure if you are taking kids as there is very little for them to do and the bad weather programme was none existent. We hope you enjoy your time but it did not suit us as we could compare it with our previous one with Princess, who were exceptional to say the least. Be prepared for utter chaos at Genoa when you return we will let you make your own mind up on the Italians, we certainly have.
Just returned from med trip with rhapsody. Yes air con. No tea making facilities and get hair dryer to loan from reception. Enjoy the cruise. It puts you off if you read too many reviews.
We have been on several cruises and one on MSC Opera was as enjoyable as any, just as good as QE2 and Sea Princess.Tea and coffee are available via room service,a travel iron won't take up much room in the suitcase.Don'tworry about negative reviews, enjoy your cruise and the ports-of-call.
