Hi there. I have done two Aurora Christmas Caribbean packages from Southampton. Sure there are 3-4 days of the transit either way when sunbathing is'nt first choice, though the improving weather is noticeable each day. The joy is that after 4-5 days the sun is virtualy unlimited and the islands and beaches are great. Also Aurora does this cruise very well and on these trips she is very family friendly.

You should only have about 2 days of potentially poorer weather at either end. The Christmas cruise get booked up very early and your biggest problem maybe booking a cabin you want.

Whilst I see what you are saying I am afraid that unless you are willing to fly your understanding of the situation is probably correct. So let’s look at the situation. You may get away with as little as 2 days where sunbathing is not practicable each way or it may turn out to be 12 or more. That is in the lap of the Gods. Are you saying that on a modern liner with all those facilities all you require is sunshine ? I would also say that there is a strong likelihood that your “kid” will be preferring to be with the other “kids” doing what they do. If you can’t see yourself enjoying a cruise without sun for that amount of time then maybe you should think again or stay home and buy a tanning machine or grit your teeth and fly. So many people would give their eye teeth for such an experience. Or, just maybe, I am being too harsh again, ah! Regards …Nei.

It will indeed be chilly until you get passed Madeira. We just did the world cruise on Aurora, which is a lovely ship and we weren't warm until 4 days in. I wouldn't let that put you off though. BUT it's very doubtful you'll get that holiday anyway. Friends of ours have had trouble booking it. You have to do this very early on.
